Planning permission for the nursery extension allowed after appeal

The Planning Inspector has allowed the appeal against South Somerset District Council's refusal. The Planning Inspectorates decision dated 20 October 2010 can be found here. The Inspector concludes that the impact of the proposed extension on traffic and highway safety or on the living conditions of the occupiers of neighbouring properties would not be such as to render the development counter to development plan policy.

It has taken over 18 months to get to this stage after appointing architects, putting in for planning permission, trying to negotiate with SSDC and finally submitting an appeal against the refusal decision. Fortunately commonsense has prevailed at last.

The two storey extension at the far end of the building will provide much needed additional child care places as well as providing new toilets on the ground floor and a new kitchen, staff area and office on the first floor. Plans of the extension can be found here and here.
